Generation Discover festival 2019

A total of 35,000 visitors over 5 days: a massive spectacular getting young people enthused and inspired about science and technology. All the creation of BrandBase: the fourth edition of the Generation Discover Festival.

The festival gives children aged 8 to 12 an engaging and playful opportunity to get to know the worlds of technology and science. This year, the young visitors to this festival had the chance to try things like playing football with robots, vertical gardening and flying drones.

No fewer than 300 school classes and a record number of partner businesses and organisations took part in the festival. Together, all the partners involved share the belief that we need the brainpower of today’s primary school children to give shape to the world of tomorrow.

This is a creative assignment of mega proportions and, for me personally, the greatest challenge in our field here in the Netherlands,’ says Jesse Post, Creative Director at BrandBase. ‘We do the work – for all the Generation Discover partners – of dreaming up, designing and developing relevant experiences that all contribute to the global aim of the festival. All 32 partners come with their own messages, which we then refine and shape into a single coherent narrative that needs to please all those partners as well as the children. That’s a pretty massive task. This year’s narrative focussed on housing, production and transport in the year 2050. I’m truly proud of what we achieved with our team.
